Strengthening Cross-Sectoral Coordination and Collaboration for Preparedness, Prevention and Response planning

The National Workshop in the Netherlands will focus on strengthening cross-sectoral coordination and collaboration for Prevention Preparedness and Response (PPR) planning. Taking a multi-stakeholder perspective, the workshop aims to reach agreements for action points and priorities to strengthen emergency preparedness at a national interdepartmental level.

The National Workshop will be led and hosted by the Ministry of Health Welfare and Sport (minVWS) of the Netherlands in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health (RIVM). It specifically aims:

  1. To raise awareness and create a common understanding between different involved stakeholders around the outcomes of the minVWS exploratory report on preparedness;
  2. To identify gaps, challenges and opportunities in the development and implementation of preparedness plans and policies;
  1. To clarify roles and responsibilities amongst involved stakeholders, as well as to identify and discuss unclear, missing or overlapping roles and responsibilities; and
  2. To prioritize, develop and agree on next steps.

The National Workshop will lay the foundation for a robust and coordinated approach to PPR planning in The Netherlands, improving cross-sector collaboration, coordination, communication, and capacity building. Specifically, we expect that this National Workshop will:

  • Strengthen the collaboration and network among relevant stakeholders;
  • Create a common ground for the coming years (definition and shared vision for the future);
  • Increase awareness of all stakeholders' roles, actions and responsibilities; and
  • Agree on policy actions necessary to strengthen PPR plans and strategies. These actions will be used to formulate a policy agenda.

This meeting is by invitation only. More than 40 policymakers and responsible parties from a broad range of sectors were invited to the workshop by email.

The workshop will be held the national language (Dutch)
