EU Preparedness Training Course on Infodemic Management: prevention, preparedness and response (PPR) planning 

 

This course will be held twice in 2025.

During the application process, please select the session you wish to attend:  

Application and selection process: Please apply only if you are certain that you will participate. By applying, you confirm that you have the approval of your department. The selection of participants will be carried out in coordination with the applicants. Participants will be informed accordingly. Please note that individuals nominated by their country will receive priority access to the trainings, and remaining spots will be allocated based on availability.

Application Deadline: 

  • 21 March 2025 for EUPT in Ljubljana 
  • 8 April 2025 for EUPT in Riga 

 

Logistics for both training courses 

Arrival: Participants are expected to arrive the evening before the training starts (7 April for Slovenia and 20 May for Latvia). 

Welcome reception: Participants are invited to an informal welcome reception on the evening before the training begins, scheduled for 19:00 local time. To help us plan accordingly, our event managers will check in with participants in advance to confirm attendance.

Venue and accommodation: Details  will be shared closer to the event. 

Flights: Event managers will contact registered participants to coordinate flight bookings and will take care of all flight arrangements. 

Costs: All costs, including accommodation, meals, and travel, will be covered by the EPIC11 project. Please check the Reimbursement Policy

 

About the course 

In today’s interconnected world, effectively managing infodemics is more crucial than ever, especially during complex crises when misinformation can deepen vulnerabilities and erode trust. This training course empowers participants with the tools and strategies needed to combat misinformation and disinformation, fostering trust and enhancing community engagement in complex, cross-border scenarios. 

Designed specifically for migration-related challenges, the course addresses the unique barriers faced by vulnerable populations, including misinformation, stigma, and language differences. Participants will delve into proactive risk communication, social listening, and culturally sensitive approaches to manage infodemics effectively. Through real-world case studies and interactive exercises, they will gain practical experience in applying theoretical knowledge to migration-specific contexts. 

Key focus areas include: 

  • Identifying infodemic signals and crafting targeted messages. 
  • Leveraging community networks to enhance outreach and engagement. 
  • Implementing cross-border coordination strategies for effective communication. 
  • Understanding the psychological dynamics of information spread during health emergencies. 

This course is a vital resource for professionals seeking to strengthen their skills in managing infodemics and fostering resilience in migration crises. The training course provides foundational knowledge and practical tools to address misinformation and enhance communication strategies in migration crises. Its interactive approach ensures relevance for general emergency preparedness staff while fostering diverse perspectives to support cross-sector and cross-border collaboration, strengthening PPR capabilities across countries.

 

Participants 

This training course invites participants from EU Member States, Lichtenstein, Norway, Iceland, and international organizations engaged in emergency preparedness and response across the European region. It is designed for mid- to senior-level public managers, health professionals, and officials working at national or sub-national levels who play a role in developing and implementing emergency preparedness and response plans.

The course is particularly beneficial for professionals involved in managing communication and information during public health emergencies, with a focus on cross-border collaboration and coordination. Participants will gain valuable insights and skills to strengthen infodemic management strategies/activities and their alignment to national emergency preparedness and response efforts.
